The schedule

Four lines of cover, four sets of figures, four plates. The sum insured sets the teeth on the fixed gear, the term sets the gear that rolls inside it, and the excess throws the pen out from the centre. No two of these engravings can be the same, because no two of these policies are.

A terrace of insured houses, printed in one ink.

Line 01 · Buildings and contents

Household

Buildings at rebuild cost, contents at replacement, and the things a standard wording quietly leaves out — outbuildings, boundary walls, the freezer.

A works van at the kerb, printed in one ink.

Line 02 · Two vehicles and up

Cut your own plate

Move the cover and watch the engraving change. The policy number carries the same three numbers and checks them, which is the whole point of a guilloche: you cannot re-cut the line without the parameters.

Endorsement 01

Independent means the market answers to us, not the other way round

We are not an agent of one insurer. Every renewal is re-broked across the panel, and where a risk does not fit a standard wording — a listed building, a flood band, a fleet with a young driver on it — it goes to a specialist underwriter rather than into an exclusion.

You are told what we are paid. Commission is disclosed on request, in writing, before you sign anything.

When you claim, you talk to us

The number on the counterfoil is the claims number as well. We handle the insurer; you handle the drying out.

  1. 01 Ring, any hour. Out of hours goes to the duty broker, not a queue.
  2. 02 We notify the insurer the same working day and send you the reference.
  3. 03 A loss adjuster is instructed where the claim needs one. We attend the visit.
  4. 04 Settlement is checked against the wording before you are asked to accept it.

What we need from you when you claim

The two tears on this document
FOLD · ties 2.4 mm, bridges 1.2 mm · 2:1 · holds
COUNTERFOIL · ties 1.2 mm, bridges 1.2 mm · 1:1 · separates

Twice as much uncut paper as cut and the sheet stays one sheet; equal ties and bridges and it comes away along the line and nowhere else. The spacing of every band on this page is that same 2:1.

COUNTERFOIL — TIES 1.2 / BRIDGES 1.2 — RETAIN

Send us the risk. We will send back the certificate.

Tell us what needs covering and when the current policy ends. We come back with terms, in writing, and the figures that cut the plate.
